Moving Pets to New Account
If someone calls saying they have recently adopted a pet from a client of ours, and would like to create a new account for that pet, follow the instructions below
Gather the information about the new owner, first and last name, and phone number, and then about the pet and current owner
Let the new owner know that you will have to confirm with the current owner in our system that the pet has been relinquished and you will call them back after the confirmation.
Call the current owner of the pet using the information in Avimark, verify the pet has been adopted by someone new, and get their permission to move the pet over - have them speak to a total of 2 people to confirm the pet has been adopted
Place CC in the current owner's file about the conversation, and both people who confirmed should place their time stamp and the conversation had with the owner in the same CC
Move pet over to new client account, call the new client and let them know we have their pet set up in the system
If that was the previous owner's only pet, don't forget to inactivate them in the system
