Cleaning Surgical Packs

Surgical packs should be cleaned with diluted Dawn dish soap

Scrub each instrument with the copper bristle brush, kept on the wet table

Inspect all gauze that appears to be unused, place in a gauze container for treatment use

Discard all used gauze, cotton swabs and drape

Scrub and rinse out glass dish that holds the instruments

Inspect each instrument during cleaning for cracks and tape-n-tell issues - notify Practice Manager if a reorder is necessary, or replace tape-n-tell with appropriate color

After rinsing, spray each instrument generously with instrument lube (spray bottle kept under the sink on the wet table) at the joints
