Soda Lime Canisters

Soda lime is essential for the absorption of the CO2 that is expelled from the pet during anesthesia. The crystals absorb the exhaled CO2, and the resulting chemical reaction produces heat, water, and a color change. 

Once the crystals are discolored, they are depleted of their ability to have that chemical reaction.

The soda lime canisters should be dumped out and the contents changed when 50% of the granules become discolored - they turn purple.

The canister contents can be dumped out into the normal trash
