Weekend & Holiday Kennel Shifts
Weekend kennel shifts are assigned at minimum of 1 month prior, and are on a rotating schedule according to last name.
Holiday kennel shifts are assigned based on randomization at the end of the year for the following 12 months.
Kennel shifts can be switched or given away by the assigned weekend attendant at their discretion, change it on the calendar and alert your Practice Manager of the change.
Arrive between 8:00 am and 9:30 am for morning shifts and 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm for evening shifts.
Antech box should be opened on Saturday morning to check for samples. If samples are present, they need to go into the fridge for Monday pick up. Leave a note on the bloodwork line item that the blood was not picked up and will go out on the next business day.
If there are only cats boarding for the weekend, it is appropriate to only come to the hospital once per day for the closure - this should be sometime between 11 am and 1 pm
The hospital should be kept neat and clean during the weekend and should be ready for operations on Monday morning.
This idea includes but is not limited to sweeping and mopping the kennel area and replacing the mop water, cleaning out the trough thoroughly, making sure all dishes are clean and the tub is clear, sweeping the cat room, removing trash from the kennel and treatment, making sure all sinks in treatment are empty and clean, and making sure the side yard is in good condition. If there is an excess of poop outside, please scoop it and get the yard clear for Monday morning.
Kennels should be cleaned that are not in use if a pet was moved during the weekend to a different run or cage.
The hospital should be prepared for operations on Monday. Check the exam rooms, lobby, treatment area, and surgery to make sure they are clean (no hair, blood, nail clippings, or misplaced items) and presentable for the incoming week.
