Heartworm Tests

Collect a blood sample with a 1cc syringe, flushed with Heparin

0.2 cc is an acceptable amount of blood to collect for this procedure

Pick out appropriate test - Flex 4 or Rapid test

With a sharpie, label the pet's name on the test

Place the test on the appropriate number area within the clear trays next to the sink

Instructions for each are on the test itself

Buffers should be used until the box of tests have run out - then all buffers in that box should be thrown out as well

Once test is set up, run the timer for 8 minutes

Immediately add the result to the patient's record under the heartworm test line item with a time stamp at the end of 8 minutes
