Scheduling Urine Appointments

  • If a client calls with a pet that is having trouble urinating, urinating frequently, or urinating blood, assume we will need a sample from the pet

  • We should ask the client to refrain from allowing the pet to urinate for 2 hours prior to their appointment, if possible.

  • Let the client know they can call us from their vehicle, if the pet is a dog, when they arrive and we will come out promptly to catch a sample

  • Try to schedule urine appointments in the morning or early afternoon

  • Change the appointment type to Urinalysis so PetDesk generates the correct reminder for this appointment

  • If the appointment is for a male cat and the cat is not urinating, urinating blood, or having trouble urinating - this is an emergency! They need to be seen right away.
