Surgical IV Catheters

ALL dental procedures receive a catheter

Kidney pets, heart pets, geriatric (7+ years), prolonged/bloody procedures and pyometras receive IV catheters

Prolonged or bloody procedures may fall into some of these categories: amputations, complicated mass removals

It is DVM discretion as to whether or not the patient will continue IV fluids once the procedure is complete
