Health Certificate Exams
Health Certificate exams are 30 minutes for domestic, and 45-60 for international depending on the importing country. Mexico is 30 minutes, Hawaii is 45 minutes, Canada is 30 minutes, and Alaska is 30 minutes.
When scheduling these appointments, we need to know the date of travel, the importing country (specifically - such as "Lagos, Nigeria" instead of just "Africa"), and how many pets the client is bringing. This information should be placed in the appointment notes.
Try to schedule international appointments during USDA APHIS office hours, in case we need to clarify something with them.
The USDA office is only open from 9:00 am-3:30 pm M-F. Their phone number is (770) 761-5426.
Direct the client to our website to fill out the health certificate form online prior to their appointment. This form will show up completed in the mahreception email inbox.
Sometimes clients use brokers for these situations. You will be contacted by a company that will handle everything if that's the case, the client will just need us for the health certificate.
At a minimum, we will charge for the Health Certificate Exam, the domestic HC or International HC (different cost) to file with the USDA, and any services needed for approval to the importing country.
If the country does not accept a digital endorsement from the USDA, the client will have to pay for a UPS overnight label (as stated on the USDA website) in addition to the other fees. The charge for that is $82.
For the UPS label, the owner's current address should be in the TO and FROM boxes - our address nor the USDA address should not appear on the label.
Green banner countries are ones that accept digital endorsement - we will still need to login and email the certificate to the client for them to travel when it's been endorsed by the USDA veterinarian.
If an estimate is needed for a health certificate, please send that request to EJO.
Domestic health certificates may accommodate up to 4 pets on one certificate. Each pet must be charged an exam, but the certificate line item may be done as a courtesy on the second, third, and fourth pets traveling together on the same certificate.
All international health certificate appointments have a $200 deposit required at the time of booking.
At the time of the appointment, the client should fill out the health certificate form linked below. They must have all of the information in order to process the certificate.
