Heat Stroke Patients
When a pet is recognized as heat stroke, the pet should be immediately brought into treatment and placed on the wet table
Take a TPR
If the temperature is above 103 degrees F, run cold water over pet until temperature comes down
When the temperature reaches 103 degrees F, discontinue water and begin to dry pet off
Another assistant should draw up a preliminary estimate with a Routine Visit, Emergency fee, IV Catheterization, Fluids and Hospitalization fee to present to owner - get permission to begin and a signed estimate for treatment
DVM will complete exam on the pet and determine next steps
