HM5 - Calibration
This occurs if the HM5 consistently shows out-of-range blank parameters, or if the HM5 unit has been relocated to a different spot.
This calibration requires a hematology normal control to run, which must reach room temperature before beginning - leave on the counter for about 15 minutes
From the home screen, select Measure > Run > Blank and run a blank, even if one was run that day already.
After the blank is run, from the home screen, select Maintenance > Calibration > Measure
Verify that the Cal Sampling Depth is set to -2 mm
Select Accept
Enter the lot number, expiration date in MM/DD/YYYY format, and calibration values from the HM5 Control Package Insert.
Select Run Cal
When prompted, invert the control vial 10-15 times, remove the cap, place the vial in the adaptor, and select Run Cal to begin the first calibration run.
The results will appear on the screen when the calibration is complete, repeat the process 2 more times - beginning with inverting the vial and placing back in the adaptor to run.
After the 3rd run, the analyzer will calculate and display the new Calibration factors. The factors should all read between 0.7 and 1.3 to be acceptable.
Select Accept, Exit.
Perform a Quality Control 2 or 3 times to verify the calibration was successful.
**If the calibration fails, call Abaxis Technical Support.
